The Margaret of England bracelet that you could make your own (if you can afford it)

It is not usual, but whenever it happens it becomes an event full of expectation. On September 14 one of the jewels that belonged to the British Royal Family will be auctioned and anyone could get hold of it. It is an art deco-style Cartier bracelet that he wears in one of the official portraits of him, the one for his nineteenth birthday taken by Cecil Beaton. The London house Dix Nonnan Webb is auctioning it now, noting that it is made of cultured pearls and diamonds and that it is dated approximately 1925, in addition to including that it belonged to Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and sister of Queen Elizabeth II of England.

The jewel, which comes with a certificate and case, is made up of a double row of pearls interspersed with one of diamonds and is closed in a geometric opening set in platinum. Etched into the precious metal is Princess Margaret's monogram, which includes an M and a crown, as well as other initials indicating technical details of the piece. The certificate is stamped by Kensington Palace in 2006, stating where it came from and that it was sold at Christie's that same year. Queen Elizabeth's sister wore this bracelet on many occasions in the 1950s and 1960s and wore it in her official nineteenth birthday portrait.

"We are delighted to be able to sell this exquisite art deco diamond and cultured pearl bracelet that belonged to Princess Maragrita," said Frances Noble, head jeweler and associate director of Dix Noonan Webb. "This is a rare opportunity to acquire a very personal piece of royal history, with impeccable provenance," she adds. It remains to be seen if the piece reaches the figures it reached fifteen years ago, but of course it will not be within the reach of all pockets.

Its value is estimated at 47,000 euros, although it is expected to reach a much higher price, since in 2006, the last time it was for sale, it reached a price of 85,000. On that occasion, some 200 pieces of the deceased sister of Queen Elizabeth II were put up for sale and figures much higher than those predicted were reached. A spokesperson for Christie's, the organizer of the auction at the time, assured EFE that it was "madness." The jewels were offered to the highest bidder at the request of Margaret's two children, who had died in 2002. Viscount David Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto launched the biggest auction of British royal memorabilia in twenty years because the proceeds were going to be used to pay the high taxes on inherited assets, which were estimated at the time at 5 million euros. The star then was the "Poltimore tiara", with which the Princess had posed in that well-known photograph in a bathtub, a scene that was recently recreated in The Crown.
