I am often asked what is the best aesthetic technique that modern dermatology offers to help our patients achieve natural results.
Without a doubt, the best technique to rejuvenate in an elegant way is the combination of treatments.
Today, dermatologists have many tools to improve our face, but the key to achieving that desired naturalness is to combine techniques in a prudent and discreet way, always keeping in mind that "less is more".
Next, I am going to recommend our 5 favorite combinations that we practice daily at the International Dermatological Clinic:
We combine botulinum toxin (botox) in the crow's feet area with hyaluronic acid in the dark circles area. By relaxing the muscle that produces crow's feet with botulinum toxin we manage to raise the eyebrows. This elevation of the eyebrows together with the increase of light in the area of the eyecup provides very elegant results in the look. It is probably the technique that we have used the most during the pandemic since it allows us to treat the most visible area while wearing the mask.
Use one session a year of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, sometimes combined with tensor threads. Ultrasounds manage to generate collagen at the level of the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), that is, below the fat. And the tensor threads reposition the tissues that have fallen off.
We combine spot lasers with vein lasers and Intense Pulsed Light. In this way we manage to eliminate skin imperfections by stimulating the formation of collagen. Whenever we carry out these techniques, we recommend a cosmetic protocol at home combining antioxidants, retinol, depigmenting and exfoliating products depending on the skin type of each patient.
We combine the filling of the barcode with hyaluronic acid through the "blanching" technique (which does not give volume to the lip, eliminating the possibility of producing the dreaded "duck mouth") together with the hydration and discreet profiling of the lip also with hyaluronic acid.
What we use the most is the Liquid Lifting, in which we combine 3 types of infiltrations: botulinum toxin (botox) to relax the depressor muscles of the face, hyaluronic acid to compensate for the loss of fatty compartments of the face, and collagen inducers. to achieve a tightened effect on the skin. This technique is performed in less than 10 minutes and is probably the one that achieves the most grateful results.
Through these combinations we can obtain natural results and get our patients to tell them that they have a good face.
If someone asks you “what have you done to yourself?” then the treatment has been excessive or poorly planned.
In addition to combining treatments, I would like to highlight 4 important aspects to achieve natural results:
The future of all these techniques is fascinating. The greater knowledge of the anatomical changes that occur in our face when we age together with the incorporation of techniques such as ultrasound to have greater control of what we infiltrate will mean that we can achieve more predictable and natural results.
