The name of the second son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is not just a tribute to the mother and grandmother of the Duke of Sussex, but also a fine detail towards his mother-in-law.
The Sussexes' daughter's first name is Lilibet, as Queen Elizabeth is affectionately known, while her second name is Diana, name of Lady Di.

The name of the baby has given a lot to talk about. According to Page Six, Harry asked the queen's permission to name him after her.
Citing unnamed sources, the tabloid said Harry called the queen before his wife gave birth to the baby girl on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital , in Santa Barbara, Calif.
“(That) really isn't something a person can say no to. I doubt they asked (permission) – they probably let you know," the website said.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, affectionately known in the family as Lilibet,” the Sussexes said on Sunday when announcing the birth of their daughter.
According to the website, only the recently deceased Prince Philip called his wife, the queen, Lilibet.

The Sussexes have denounced racism within the royal family and have made other strong statements that have put Buckingham Palace in check. Despite these statements, Harry maintains close relations with his grandmother, the queen, added the tabloid.
Journalist Afua Adom, however, disagreed with the commentator on the same show.

The baby's middle name is also a tribute to Princess Diana, who died in 1997 when her car crashed on the streets of Paris as she was chased at high speed by paparazzi.

The connection is by a pun. In English, Lili sounds the same as 'lily' (azucena, in Spanish). In other words, when calling the girl Lili it is as if they were calling her lily or flower.
Lilies are flowers that symbolize happiness and rebirth. Princess Diana and Meghan wore lilies in their corsages when they married in 1981 and 2018 respectively.
Harry has said he really wishes his mum was alive to meet Meghan and her family. In the absence of a grandmother for the children, the other grandmother has been very supportive of the couple, according to People.
