It's a pretty recognizable office environment, though the job does have a few perks for those who work at the Dunder Mifflin branch in Scranton.

These perks aren't financial prospects or necessarily rewarding for those looking to advance in a new job at a paper company, but there are a few things that come along with working at Dunder Mifflin that would make it more than worth it for new hires to stay on. 10 There's Always A Funny Joke Of Some Kind At Work

Employees who walk into the office every day to work at Dunder Mifflin can count on a prank of some sort to amuse themselves a bit. Various pranks were played on various staff members in The Office, although Dwight Schrute was often the target.

Jim was responsible for several hilarious pranks on his co-worker over the years, which would be quite entertaining to watch as long as they kept the focus on Dwight. Of course, Dwight has managed to pull some of his own pranks over the years to add to the daily entertainment value at work.

9 Dundie Awards Are Always A Good Time With Good Food

Regional Director Michael Scott created the Dundie Awards as a way to celebrate his employees at Dunder Mifflin. As the host of a fake awards show, Michael handed out employee-specific trophies that were sometimes flattering and sometimes offensive.

Employees began to look forward to the Dundies' ceremonies, as much for the entertainment value and sometimes recognition of their work as for the night at Dunder Mifflin. Michael Scott was so proud of the Dundies that he advertised the awards night to potential employees at a job fair to generate more interest in a career at Dunder Mifflin.

8 Employees can create their own administrative position

An interesting perk for Dunder Mifflin office workers is the ability to create a new position with a higher salary when a sales position doesn't work out. So it was for Pam, who tried her hand at sales after leaving her receptionist position, though she wasn't sure what to do when she wasn't serving her as a salesperson.

Pam took advantage of the turmoil that came with the sale of Dunder Mifflin to Saber to position herself as the new office manager, a higher-paying white-collar job than she previously had. Even when she was about to be found out for her ruse, she managed to bluff her way into the royal position that she held for the rest of the series.

7 Work events such as meetings or parties are unpredictable

Nearly every office worker has struggled to stay awake during boring staff meetings or dreaded attending the office Christmas party, though Dunder Mifflin employees can get used to expecting the unexpected at normally boring staff meetings.

Michael Scott kept almost every meeting buzzing with his dramatic presentations, sometimes offensive characters, and outlandish ideas that he hoped would inspire his staff. Parties were also another guaranteed source of entertainment, whether it was the hilarious Halloween costumes or the always surprising Christmas antics.

For those who enjoy the fine art of workplace gossip, the Dunder Mifflin offices are absolutely packed with juicy staff stories that are sure to entertain at the water cooler. From Meredith's latest activities over the weekend to keeping track of Stanley's various mistresses, there's no shortage of things to talk about.

Several employees were even involved in romances with other co-workers, such as when Dwight and Angela slept together during her engagement to Andy. The most notorious scandal at Dunder Mifflin was undoubtedly the affair between Oscar and Angela's husband, a state senator, which caused a media frenzy.

5 There are different exclusive clubs and committees

Employees looking for a little extra in their workplace have a couple of options at Dunder Mifflin, though both come with certain hurdles. Oscar, Pam, and Toby created the Finer Things Club to celebrate fine dining, literature, and art. Unfortunately, the Fine Stuff Club is incredibly exclusive and doesn't welcome new members, as Andy and Jim discovered.

There's also the Party Planning Committee, which is an aptly named office group responsible for taking care of all the birthday parties, anniversaries and holidays that are held at Dunder Mifflin. However, the group is often locked in a power struggle between Angela and Phyllis that can take the fun out of the group.

4 On-site security is gracefully handled by Dwight K. Schrute

Workplace safety is important for employees looking for a new place to spend much of their lives. Luckily, Dunder Mifflin has an incredibly dedicated employee named Dwight Schrute who took it upon himself to better prepare the office for all sorts of potential situations.

Dwight not only hid guns around the office, he also held dangerous but fun impromptu fire drills that kept the staff on their toes. When he took over as manager, he even installed a high-tech security entrance from a jewelry store, though it backfired when he was denied entry.

3 There are a number of fun games that can be played during office hours

Some jobs have developed unique, time-wasting games that are passed down to new hires over the years, and Dunder Mifflin has a few fun games that are usually improvised by Jim in his efforts to play pranks on Dwight.

However, he is also responsible for organizing some of these office games into an Olympics-like event for the employees to play while Michael and Dwight are out for the day. Some of the games that appeared in the Office Olympics were "Dunderball", "Who can put the most M&M's in their mouth?" and a "Flonkerton" race in which medals were awarded to the victors.

It's not always the best decision to become romantically involved with someone you work with, as Michael Scott learned when he started dating his superior Jan de El. However, there were a number of positive relationships that developed at Dunder Mifflin.

The series focused on the development of the romance between Jim and Pam that led to a marriage with children, although other characters also found love. Phyllis married Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration, which had offices in the same building as Dunder Mifflin, Michael Scott left the series with his love Holly Flax, and Dwight and Angela also got married in the final season.

1 It is almost impossible to be fired by Human Resources

Toby Flenderson was Dunder Mifflin's main Human Resources representative at the Scranton branch, although he shared the role with Holly Flax during his time there as well. He was responsible for filing a large number of complaints with the corporate office that could have led to termination, though he rarely moved things beyond his desk.

Michael Scott also got so close to his employees that it was always hard for him to fire them and he used to find ways around it. Interestingly, he also very much enjoyed firing people falsely to see his reaction, which brought tears to his eyes on at least one occasion.
