Santiago de Compostela airport will have direct flights to Luxor, in Egypt

The Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport will have a new direct international connection in 2022, although it will not be regular: there will be four charter flights to Luxor, in Egypt, chartered by the tour operator Soltour.

The Compostela terminal has been chosen to operate the flights that will depart for Luxor on April 11, June 9, August 29 and November 7, returning from Cairo a week later.

This tourist package includes flights of this type from eleven cities in Spain, Santiago de Compostela being the only Galician among them. In addition to the transfer, those who book this trip will be able to enjoy a four-day cruise on the Nile River and three hotel nights in Cairo.

Beyond this exceptional connection that in principle will only depart four times, this year Santiago Airport adds new direct flights to other countries, such as those announced by Ryanair to Edinburgh or the Bavarian city of Memmingen, near Munich and Stuttgart.

The tourist package proposed by Soltour includes, in addition to the round trip flights, four nights of cruise with full board, three hotel nights in Cairo, different excursions with a Spanish-speaking guide, a visa to enter the country, mandatory cruise tips and basic travel insurance that includes Covid-19 coverage.

The tour operator has two different offers: Jewels from Egypt, from 1,295 euros, and Charms from Egypt, from 999 euros. The difference lies in the accommodation in Cairo, which in the first case is bed and breakfast and in the second half board.

Both packages include an entrance to the Valley of the Kings site -including entry to the three tombs-, to the Temples of Hatshepsut, Luxor, Karnak, Kom-Ombo or Philea and to the Pyramids site.

In the case of Jewels of Egypt, the offer also includes admission to Abu Simbel, the Egypt Museum in Cairo and, within the Pyramids, the pyramids of Kefren and Menkaure.

The tour operator points out that Egypt "occupies a preponderant place again" in world cultural tourism thanks to "the improvement of security conditions in the country or new discoveries such as that of the city of Aten".

“We want our clients to live unique and unforgettable experiences in Egypt, with a first-class experience, full of quality and comfort and with direct flights”, says the general director of Soltour, Javier Castillo.
