Mexican silver production falls for the first time in 13 years

Silver production in Mexico fell for the first time in 13 years.

Mexico extracted 186.2 million ounces in 2016, a 3.2% drop compared to 2015, when it produced 192 million, according to a survey prepared by the Silver Institute and presented by the Mexican Mining Chamber (Camimex).

This decrease, the first since 2003, is mainly explained by the decrease in Goldcorp's Peñasquito mine, the largest gold producer in our country, as well as lower production in Primero Mining's San Dimas mine.
