The Diamond Pink Star - the name came later - was extracted in 1999 in Africa by De Beers, a company dedicated mainly to exploitation, size and diamond trade.What was obtained at that time was a beautiful diamond with a raw volume of 132.50 carat and on which it took two years of work until it transforms it into the precious pink stone that is today.
An intense pink diamond, which finally remained at 59.60 carats and a size of 2.69 for 2.06 centimeters, with oval shape and free of impurities, that is, perfect.Or what in Anglojones they would call in the slang of high jewelry - and some others- Flawless.
The Pink Star has received the highest rating in color and quality by the Gemological Institute of America (Gemological Institute of America - GIA) and is found in the 2 percent subgroup of diamonds of the ILA type, the purest and excellent optical transparency.Although the Pink Star was found in southern Africa, pink diamonds have their origin in India and were discovered centuries ago.
On April 4, 2017, this pink diamond was sold at an auction in the prestigious Hong Kong Sotheby's auction house.It was not an easy sale, although very fast.On the telephone, in three completely undetermined places in the world -anonymity is key in this type of operations -three people struggled and bid for this gem to the high figure of the 72 million dollars (60.5 million euros).This is the highest price paid by a auction diamond.It was sold in less than ten minutes.
After the word "awarded" and the metaphorical blow of Maza in Sotheby's, I breathed calmly and victoriously on the other line the Hongkonese jewelry team Chow Tai Fook.The proud owner, represented by the company's director, Henry Cheng Kar-Shun (74 years old), baptized the gem as the CTF Pink, thus representing the initials of the company.

While a priori the New York diamond carver Isaac Wolf, representing a group of investors agreed to buy it, finally, failed to pay it.
