Cartier pays tribute to María Félix and her crocodile necklace

Nadie más que Cartier podría hacer una colección de joyería para homenajear a la diva de México, María Félix. La línea, que consta de cuatro piezas hechas con esmeraldas colombianas, diamantes y oro, está inspirada en el collar que la actriz mandara a hacer en 1957 tomando como referencia un cocodrilo.

En aquel entonces, María Félix entró a la boutique Cartier de Rue de la Paix en París con un cocodrilo bebé en una pecera y pidió que le hicieran un collar lo más parecido posible.The result was a piece composed of two crocodiles hugged by the neck, made of yellow gold and 18 carat gold and covered with more than a thousand bright yellow diamonds.

Now, the jewelry brand decided to pay tribute and relaunch the design of crocodiles with slight variants. The necklace, the centerpiece of the collection, is made of gold and covered with diamonds.It highlights the body of the crocodile and is biting a cascade of emeralds.Doing it took more than 1,875 hours.The earrings simulate small queues, while the ring has a whole body crocodile adorned with small emeralds.

Each piece is articulated to resemble the anatomy of reptiles as much as possible at the same time demonstrating the Savoire Faire of Cartier artisans who make each of the jewels they perform.

The price of each piece is unknown, but for the materials, as well as by the jewelry house that signs them, they must exceed the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Las piezas que María Félix mandó a hacer a mediados de la década de los 50 forman parte de las joyas históricas de la Colección Cartier.
