About 50 women report having been victims of fraud in the sale of cosmetics promoted on the popular social network Instagram. Carabineros investigates the background to determine a possible crime that could end with five years in prison.

A complainant pointed out that the store is promoted on the social network and that some Instabloggers recommended it: "They are makeup from the United States, they gave you the transfer data, all the products were on Instagram." Others affected specified that being a highly recommended account and having a low cost in their products, they were tempted.

Makeup and beauty items were sold on the Instagram account, all imported and at convenient prices. In this way, a payment of 60% was requested and a delivery date for the purchased products was agreed upon. However, when the day came, the account no longer existed.

The complainants, fearing they were victims of a scam, filed a complaint with the Carabineros. From the institution, they specified that there are approximately 50 identified people who declared to be affected by the situation.

"They made the sales, but they did not deliver the products, or they simply did not meet with the people to deliver the purchased products," said the captain of the Carabineros OS-9, Gabriel Bustamante.

While the police investigation progressed, new complaints were added. The money for the purchase of the products was deposited in two RUT accounts. With this information, it was possible to identify Soledad Cárdenas Zavala and her daughter, Macarena Tobar Cárdenas.

24 Hours requested an interview via email with Soledad Cárdenas, who declined to give her version of what happened, "since a trial is being made on a person, without the media being the competent body to carry out said function."
