“My goal is to show the world of real beauty, that of the street, and not that of magazines”

At the moment you are reading this, I bet that if we go to your closet we will find at least two or three different size numbers (in my case there are five).

And it's not because you lose weight or have grown suddenly from a Petit Suisse intake, but because each store has a different sizing system, which makes it difficult to think of a fixed size like ours.

María Rodríguez, the blogger behind Pretty and Olé, has taken a small step for men but a big step for the clothing industry with her online store without sizes (SinTallas.com), the first since that Charles Worth coined the concept of fashion as we know it at the end of the 19th century, being the first designer to set standard measurements for his creations.

“My name is María and I have a mountain body. I am fat and here I will tell you about my path towards a healthier life and how I have always felt beautiful, without nonsense and without complexes ”the blogger presents herself on her channel, and this is what this new stage in the life of she.

We are very fond of the concept of “cuerpo serrano” since it reminds us of our mothers or grandmothers, but how would you define a #CuerpoSerrano?

Mothers and grandmothers? hahaha, but if it is not so 'carca'! From my projection, a "mountain body" is a person who has managed to love their body and enjoy life with it regardless of their weight or size. I don't treat it as a different concept from the one you already have, it's used a lot when you want to give your body an 'olé', it's just that no one had used it before to refer to their audience. And that's what I want, for my audience to feel that the world of complexes is nonsense.

The support of your blog followers has been your starting point to create the store. How long have you been writing it? How far back does your interest in fashion go?

I started blogging in 2009 with Pretty and Olé talking about cosmetics and makeup products, which I liked since I was little. I was passionate about the world of beauty and, in addition to videos on Youtube (which I uploaded from time to time) on my blog, I recounted all my experiences and did product reviews every week, even every day at times. I took it quite seriously and I gradually adapted to what my public liked and me too, so I evolved by introducing some fashion, lifestyle and useful tips that could help people to look beautiful, always with the aim of showing the world of real beauty, the one on the street and not the one in the magazines. My shop, SinTallas.com, is the sum of all my philosophy: fashion understood as fun, that it be wearable, that anyone can wear it... and zero Photoshop.

What are the biggest difficulties you are encountering now that the online store is fully operational? And what are the satisfactions that it gives you?

One of the greatest satisfactions is knowing that a store that sells without sizes has caught on both nationally as an entrepreneurial idea. I never imagined that, even as an influencer, my startup would be on the cover of most of the media. It has been amazing to see how people have shown an interest in the store and obviously that has given us a big boost days after opening. But the opening day was wonderful: I had the entire public on my social networks pending and the minute I opened there began to be dozens of orders. Undoubtedly, the greatest satisfaction is knowing that so many 'mountain bodies' support you and that makes you realize that you are evolving in the right way.

On the contrary, the biggest difficulty I have with the store is that I am alone, like any other entrepreneur fighting for their idea. People think that by having hundreds of thousands of followers you have a whole team by your side doing the job, and that doesn't happen in my case. Every morning I get up, I prepare the orders and attend to the messages personally, I manage the sales, the stock, the returns... If I am traveling I have to leave someone in charge and it becomes difficult, but hey I hope to expand the team permanently nothing else can. Right now I am in the first step of this project.

Why did you decide to create it? How is it possible that no store without sizes has appeared in Spain until now? Do you think you will lay the foundations for future businesses in the style from your store?

My idea was to evolve with Pretty and Olé and offer something that people could really have with them. Since what they ask me the most is about clothes, I thought then I would open my own online store but with some innovative idea. I have been a product manager and my job was to create new ideas on the Internet, so I had to take advantage of my experience and not create another “blogger's shop”, but rather have something special. That's when I investigated online shopping and sizes, about people's fears of buying clothes on the Internet... and Sin Tallas emerged in a very rational way. And the truth is, the first thing I said to myself was precisely that: how has big industry not even thought of it before? So good... I imagine they have their reasons or they have taken note anyway. I have no idea what will happen...

You sell garments designed in Spain, a rather risky decision considering that they would be cheaper if they were garments from China. For what is this?

Yes, right now all the clothes I sell are designed in Spain and some are also made here and, even so, the prices are quite good. However, it is not something definitive. My intention is to have more fashion and expand the catalog and for that we will have to expand borders since it is very difficult to find, not only price, but fashion for all sizes in Spain. The reason for doing this at the beginning has been quite simple and has to do with wholesale purchases and tax regulation.

Are you considering doing something in the future also oriented to the male sector or is it something you are not going to touch?

For the moment we will continue with fashion for women, who are the ones who follow us and who consume the most fashion, as well as being the public that I personally know best. However, I do not rule out having fashion for men, children, pregnant women and other niches in the future.
