Fashion Chloé 's' Paddington 'bag that triumphed 20 years ago could be the next great vintage find
By Marina Valera
Chloé 's Paddington bag was one of the great it bags of the 2000s along with the classic City of Balenciaga or the iconic Baguette of Fendi who, long before becoming the most wanted accessory of recent seasons, hung Sarah Jessica Parker's arm in Sex in New York. The return of this model, designed in 2004 by Phoebe Philo as the creative director of the French house-now commanded by Gabriela Hearst-was already predicted by vogue editor Julia Hobbs in the summer of 2019. There were reasons for it: the former designer of the brand, Natacha Ramsey-Levi, placed her own seal on this emblematic hit with the launch of the Aby bag in the presentation of her 2019 prefall collection. Now, starting 2021, this top handle design so recognizable thanks to its robust silhouette and logo lock could become the great vintage find we were waiting for.
Buy: vintage Paddington bag, from Chloé (430 €on Vestiaire-collective.com).
Kate Moss, Paris and Nicole, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, along with a legion of music and television stars, rarely went out (neither they nor their elbows) without a hanging Paddington, "Hobbs wrote about this icon we just saw at the Paris men's fashion Week. A comeback that would make the whole sense of the world if we stick to one of the great ones. A decade, often denoted by fashion experts, which could bring with it much more than low shot pants, wide jeans and thongs in sight of Dua Lipa.
In addition to a more sustainable purchase, purchasing a Chloé Paddington bag also has its advantages: as vintage store prices such as Vestiaire Collective point out, it is a much more affordable way (for the moment) to get a it bag that, seen from the looks of it, promises to resurrect from time to time without losing an ounce of its initial charm.
