Let's get to the point. One of the main reasons why many women give up dyeing their hair is because it does not damage it. And, be careful, because we are not referring to doing one discoloration after another to achieve a platinum blonde in the purest Kim Kardashian style or to be able to wear your favorite pink. It is about not daring or dyeing your gray hair, making it clear that we prefer to continue having great hair, even if it is gray, than to have damaged hair.

But what if there was a type of coloration that did not imply damage? Well yes: coloring with oils and muds.

“Oil” coloring

The first time we heard that there was a way to dye hair with oil, the first thing that came to mind was the now legendary Velaske, am I pretty? ? After being very clear that we spend too many hours on the Internet, we spoke with María Baras, director of the Cheska salon, so that she could explain a little more about this technique that they use in her salon. “These are natural oil colors and muds that do not contain ammonia or PPD and only contain the minimum of chemical components. It is a mix of vegetable oils that treat the hair and fill it with shine, ”María explains. “Plus we can color in a full range of shades because they lighten the base and cover gray.”

At first, there are already several things that we love about this type of product, but above all we are convinced by the part in which, in addition to dyeing, they treat the hair to make it look more beautiful.

They also have a limit

Since it is a natural coloration, it has limits. “We have said that they lighten the base tone of our hair, but we will never lighten 5 or 6 shades below. It is not an exaggerated clarification, but rather a soft one”, explains María. Although this does not have to be a problem, quite the contrary. “When it grows, the root remains very melted. You don't create that completely straight line of dye and then your color. The result that remains is much more blurred.”

And when it comes to gray hair, “if we have a lot of it, it does cover it perfectly, but the result can be a bit translucent”, María tells us. "But in general, for first gray hair or a mane with 50% gray hair, it works perfectly."

It all depends on the tone

If you want to be blonde, you have to lighten the base. For this reason, to achieve it in a more natural way, "coloring is done with oils and root sweeps to lighten a little, but for the ends we have to use unbalayage and other lightening products, also without ammonia," says María. But not everything is mud and without chemistry, it is impossible when it comes to lightening the hair a lot. Even so, at Cheska they make sure to "use the necessary minimum of chemical components and always the most natural ones, but if we want to lighten the hair a lot, we must do allergy tests," he explains. "Although this thing about a product giving us allergies can happen to us even with muds and oils, since they are made with plants that can give people allergies."

But it is about not forcing and not using very strong bleaching. You can be a blonde “by combining different types of coloring and techniques to take maximum care of your hair and scalp. And the truth is that we have spent years achieving optimum results in this way”.
